In Bengaluru, citizens along with their children are holding demonstrations to bring attention of the officials to the infrastructural issues troubling the residents in the area.

Residents demanded Balagere and Panathur Road to be widened as the current narrow road leads to heavy traffic congestion especially during the peak hours delaying the commuting time of people travelling on that route.

Interestingly many young children took part in the demonstrations alongside their parents holding placards and shouting slogans to get the attention of civic bodies to their woes.

Some placards held by the children read –“We want proper drainage” while another poster read “Help me reach school on time.” The protest began at around 10 am on Sunday and continued till 1 pm in the afternoon.

Though officials undertook some repair works, they did not last long said residents. Many complained that they were experiencing severe traffic congestion in the mornings and evenings.

The protestors were upset that the officials did not respond over their protests. The residents associations told that they would continue to hold demonstrations in the coming days until the officials take notice of their woes.

Meanwhile, the civic bodies said that drainage lines were laid in many areas and that they were taking up some repair works especially along bad roads to reduce traffic congestion.
