India’s technology capital Bengaluru has been ranked the best city for students in the country by the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking list. Globally at 81st position, Bengaluru caps national capital New Delhi and financial hub Mumbai.
Nevertheless, the other three metropolitan cities of the country – Mumbai (85), New Delhi (113), and Chennai (115) – found their names in the list this year along with Bengaluru.
Internationally, the British Capital, London, retained the top honour for the second consecutive year. Top-tier cities Tokyo and Melbourne followed to finish second and third, respectively in the QS Best Student City Ranking 2019. The current list evaluated 120 countries across the globe.
Interestingly, Bengaluru was not a name that featured in 2018 QS Ranking. The only city to find a place in previous year’s list was Mumbai. The city was ranked at 99th position.
Along with other cities, the high-tech city Bengaluru was ranked on the performance exemplified across six categories. Each city was considered for the number of top ranked universities within it along with the student-city population proportion. Quality of life on offer, the availability of job opportunities after graduation, and affordability where the other 3 categories. The feedback from students themselves was also a ranking criterion.
United Kingdom (14) and United States of America (14) where the countries to feature the most number of cities. Australia followed the league with 7 total cities in the list.
