In an exceptional step towards the welfare of the education system in the country, Indian railways have converted two coaches of a train into classrooms for a struggling government school in Mysuru.
The Government Primary School in Ashokapuram has been working from the railway quarters for over two decades. In recent years, the student strength saw a decline due to the dilapidated infrastructure of the classroom and lack of resources.
The Indian railways then decided to convert the coaches into classrooms. The two coaches have been renovated into bright and colorful classrooms for the children. The South Western Railway official said that this is the first of its kind initiative in India.
Initially, the railway coaches were considered unfit for use, however, after the refurbishment, the coaches-turned-into classrooms provide for a conducive and fun atmosphere for the students.
The two coaches provided by the railways are divided into two classrooms and meetings and activity areas for students. The first of its kind classrooms are not functional and provide a safe space for students learning and education.
