The Income Tax Department has conducted raids at various locations connected to the former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka G Parameshwara reportedly related to a multi-crore scam linked to NEET exam.
Around 80 officials along with police personnel conducted raids at nearly 30 locations in Karnataka. The IT department has allegedly found some irregularities in the conduct of NEET examination particularly in two medical colleges run by a trust in Tumkur.
The trust that runs the medical colleges was identified as Shri Siddhartha Education Trust which is headed by G Parameshwara.
The irregularities spotted by the IT department included impersonation and illegal transfer of money to secure seats. Searches were also conducted in Rajasthan to find some students who impersonated students illegally.
G Parameshwara was the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka between May 2018 and July 2019.
