Responding to the political crisis in Karnataka senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that BJP is orchestrating the defections in states ruled by opposition parties with a malicious intent to overthrow the state governments.
He told that it was BJP who took the 11 lawmakers of Congress-JDS alliance to Mumbai in a private jet and kept them in a five-star hotel on Saturday night.
All this took place right at a time when the Chief Minister Kumaraswamy was away to the United States on a private holiday after the Lok Sabha elections. It is said that even the state Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao was away from Bengaluru unaware of the events that unfolded. Both of them are now rushing back to deal with eth crisis.
Mallikarjun Kharge said “the BJP is trying to sabotage non-BJP governments. They want to weaken regional parties. This is not right. The Centre is directly involved in the turmoil.”
Kharge said BJP has taken away the ministers to Mumbai but “we are still in touch with some of them. A clear picture will emerge after July 12th.”
Two congress legislators laid papers on Monday while eight congress leaders along with 3 JDS leaders submitted resignations on Saturday afternoon. If the resignations are accepted by the speaker the on-year old coalition government will come to an end as it will lose the requisite majority in the house.
“I don’t know. I want this alliance government to continue. We want it to go smoothly. These are all flimsy information fed to the press just to divide us” Mallikarjun Kharge added.
Meanwhile former Karnataka CM from BJP Sadananda Gowda earlier told ANI that Yeddyurappa will be the Chief Minister if a new government is formed in Karnataka.
