Kin of former Speaker of Andhra Pradesh, Kodela Siva Prasad Rao filed a complaint in connection with the senior leader’s death alleging it to be a suspected case of murder projected as suicide.
He filed a complaint at the Sattenapalli police station on Monday. Kodela siva Prasada Rao passed away on Monday at the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital and Research Institute after allegedly attempting to commit suicide.
Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s brother-in-law Kancheti Sai alleged that Rao was tortured mentally and physically by his son Siva Ramakrishna and said he could have murdered his father to acquire the property.
Sai raised many questions as to why was Kodela Siva Prasad Rao taken to Basavatarakam which is a cancer hospital. He also alleged that when the former speaker of Andhra Pradesh was taken to the hospital he was accompanied by driver and a gunman and not by his family members.
He also added that Kodela Siva Prasad Rao had earlier told him that his son has been torturing him both physically and mentally.
However, the Banjara Hills police station registered a case of suspicious death following which a post mortem was conducted.
In the autopsy report it was confirmed that the cause of death was hanging as a U shaped mark was found on his neck.
Another senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana too demanded for a probe into Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s death.
However, the hospital authorities at Basavatarakam maintained that the former Speaker was brought to the hospital at 11.35 am and was declared dead at 12.39 pm.
According to sources, cases were registered against Kodela Siva Prasad Rao’s daughter P Vijayalakshmi and son Siva Ramakrishna by Narsaraopet police for allegedly resorting to extortion from local traders and businessmen.
