After more than 65 hours Sujith is still far from being rescued. Rescue operations for the two year old boy who fell into the bore well are underway. The toddler fell into the borewell near Trichy in Tamil Nadu on Friday evening.
Huge machinery was deployed to rescue Sujith who is currently trapped 100 feet below the ground surface. On Friday when he fell into the bore hole he was struck at 27 feet but later slipped to 100 feet below the ground.
The exact depth of the borewell is not yet confirmed as some say it is 600 deep while other say it is 1000 feet deep. Officials are taking measures to see to it that Sujith doesn’t slip to the unknown depths. Officials believe it might take another 12 hours to reach the depth where Sujit is trapped.
The drilling machines managed to drill another vent parallel to the bore well where the kid is trapped but could progress only up to 40 feet till Monday. The reason for the slow pace of drilling is due to the rocky terrain in the region.
Once the hole is drilled up to the exact depth where the kid is trapped, the rescue team will drill a parallel hole big enough for an adult to enter and drag the kid. New machines were reportedly deployed to speed up the process.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O Pannerselvam reached the site on Sunday to review the situation personally and consoled Sujith’s parents. The Principal Secretary J Radhakrishnan is also at the spot overseeing the rescue operations.
Officials are also monitoring Sujith’s health conditions and body movements. Sujith has been there without food and water and oxygen was being supplied but it is learnt that the kid has stopped responding. Entire nation is praying for Sujith’s safe return as the rescuers race against time.
