In a bid to address the traffic woes in the city due to monsoon rains, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner asked the IT companies to delay the exit of their employees in case of a downpour between 4 pm to 6 pm.

The tech companies aligned on the IT corridor agreed to delay the exit of their employees even after they finish their work during monsoon showers.

The IT companies have assured to take measures in case of a downpour. They agreed to delay the exit of employees and to ensure the exit of women employees first and others depending on the distance of their destinations.

A meeting took place with HYSEA, NASSCOM and Cyberabad Security Council representatives to address commuter traffic inconvenience during heavy monsoon downpour between 4 PM to 6 PM in the IT corridor in Cyberabad decided for wider consultation on June 27th at West in to find solutions.

The GHMC commissioner tweeted “All AYE’s for 4 to 6 pm down pour initiative as IT industry of Cyberabad has agreed to stagger the exit of their employees in the evening when heavy rainfall happens which is about 10 to 12 evenings in monsoon season.”

Waterlogging during rains brings the city to a virtual standstill with heavy traffic stranded at various locations making it difficult to the commuters. Last week half an hour of water logging at Shilparamam near Cyber Towers led to congestion at Kothaguda, Botanical Gardens and Gachibowli for nearly three hours.
