A West Bengal court Monday issued an arrest warrant against Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami in a case of domestic violence filed by his wife Hasin Jahan.
Another arrest warrant has been issued against Shami’s brother.
Shami along with his brother has been asked by the court to surrender within 15 days and apply for bail upon return from West Indies.
An FIR was lodged on the complaint by Jahan against Shami and his family members at Kolkata’s Jadavpur police station under sections 498A (cruelty to women by their husbands as well as relatives), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation.
Following the allegations, the BCCI had decided to withhold Shami’s contract, but Shami had dismissed all of them. Jahan went on to claim that her cricketer husband received kickbacks from a Pakistani woman for fixing matches for India.
Nevertheless, the BCCI gave Shami a clean shit and thus, he represented Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
Presently, Shami is part of the team for India’s tour of West Indies.
Meanwhile, Jahan had joined the Congress party last year and came into the spotlight after she accused Shami of match-fixing, domestic violence and adultery.
