Arsenal’s fringe squad consisting of academy players outclassed Colorado Rapids with a 3-0 win at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil also featured in with a short cameo as the Gunners began pre-season on a positive note.
Youngster’s Bukayo Saka, James Olayinka and Gabriel Martinelli all found the back of the net for Arsenal.
Saka opened the scoring in the 13th minute by showing good awareness to nod home from close range.
18-year-old, James Olayinka scored from a screamer 16 minutes later to increase the advantage.

The new signing, Gabriel Martinelli spurned a great chance early on to start life at Arsenal with a bang when he side-footed wide after brilliant work from Bukayo Saka. however, The Brazilian scored later after he was lucky enough to meet Dominic Thomson’s viciously driven cross.
The trio of Ozil, Aubameyang and Lacazette received an ovation from the local’s before coming on for the last 13 minutes or so.
Unai Emery spoke to the press about the team’s performance and the situation regarding captain Laurent Koscielny who refused to travel with the squad.
“It’s our first match, we are working very well here in Los Angeles and the first match was good to use different young players, to give them chances to show their quality, commitment and the idea to help the team,” said Emery.
“The atmosphere here was perfect, a lot of Arsenal supporters and we had a good day here,” he added.
On Laurent Koscielny:
“I spoke with him three times for his situation. We wanted him to come with us but he decided to stay. Now it is a matter for the club. He has one year more contract with us. For me, he’s an important player. Now it’s one matter for him and the club. The club and he need to speak and they are speaking about his situation.
“I cannot say more than that,” he added.
Arsenal will be in action against Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup and Unai Emery said that he’ll start off with some regular first-team players including Sokratis and Xhaka.
“We are going to play Wednesday against Bayern, we only have two rest days but the idea was to play with youngsters today. Wednesday we’ll use some different players, like Sokratis, Xhaka and Reiss Nelson.
“Our preparation here is very important. The club is working very well, our idea is to continue creating,”
