Anwar El Ghazy and John McGinn scored for Aston Villa, as they edged out Derby County in the play-off final.

Martyn Waghorn scored nine minutes from normal time, as Aston Villa survived a late scare at Wembley.

Aston will be in the Premier League next season, two years after relegation from the top flight.

The side from Birmingham were denied promotion by Fulham, last season.

Villa were 13th in March, 8 points behind Bristol City, who were in 6th.

Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham finished the season for Aston as the top scorer with 26 goals.

El Ghazi put them ahead from Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross at the end of the first half, before a howler from Derby goalkeeper Kelle Roos gifted McGinn the opportunity to head home from close range for 2-0.

Jack Marriott’s strike took a slight deflection off teammate Martyn Waghorn to half the deficit for the Rams, but Villa held on for victory.

Aston will be joining Champions of the Championship, Norwich City and runner-up’s Sheffield United.

Norwich’s Timo Pukki ended the season as the top scorer of the Championship with 29 goals.

Huddersfield Town, Fulham and Cardiff City will be in the Championship next season after their Relegation from the top flight this season.

Luton Town, Champions of League One will be in the Championship next season, runner-ups Barnsley and Charlton Athletic, who defeated Sunderland in the League one Play-off final.

Luton’s James Collins finished the season as the too scorer of League One with 25 goals.

Luton will be back in the Championship after 12 years.

Rotheram United, Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town were relegated from the Championship and will be fighting for promotion in League One.
