World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is all set to face World no. 2 Rafael Nadal for the finals of the Australian Open on January 28.
Djokovic moved one step closer towards his 15 Grand Slam at the ongoing Australian Open. Djokovic on Friday defeated France’s Lucas Pouille to qualify for the finals.
Djokovic in a dominating match over Pouille by 6-0, 6-2, 6-2.
“Everything worked the way I imagined it before the match. And even more so,” Novak said.
Talking about Pouille, Novak said, “Tough one for Lucas, but he had a great tournament. He definitely has the quality to be a top-10 player. It was his first semifinal, and the occasion is different, there’s more weight in the match. He’s going to get more of these types of matches in the late stages of Grand Slams.”
Pouille made his debut at the semi-finals. The 24-year-old Frenchman was coached by former women’s No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo.
Djokovic is eyeing a hat-trick of Grand Slams will play the finals against world no. 2 Rafael Nadal on Sunday, 27 January.
Last year, Djokovic won Wimbledon 2018 as well as US Open 2018.
