Bangladesh on Tuesday defeated Zimbabwe by an innings and 106 runs in the one-off Test here at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Spinner Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam were the picks of the bowlers as they scalped five and four wickets, respectively.

Resuming day four at 9/2 in the second innings, the visitors were soon reduced to 44/4, with Kevin Kasuza (10) and Brandon Talyor (17) falling cheaply.

Craig Ervine and Sikander Raza then steadied Zimbabwe’s ship, adding 60 runs for the fifth wicket, before the former was dismissed in the 30th over.

Raza was also sent back to the pavilion, 17 runs later, caught and bowled by Taijul Islam

After that, Timycen Maruma and Regis Chakabva added 44 runs for the seventh wicket, before their vigil was finally broken as the latter departed for 17. Chakabva was dismissed by Taijul Islam.

After this, Zimbabwe lost wickets in quick successions and were eventually bundled out for 189.

Earlier, Bangladesh had declared their innings for 560/6d, having bundled out Zimbabwe for 265 in the first innings. Craig Ervine had registered a battling ton in the first innings.
