In the 2019 Caribbean Premier League draft, Alex Hales, Lasith Malinga, and Isuru Udana came out as the biggest earners while Jofra Archer wasn’t picked.
In the CPL 2019 draft, Hales, Malinga and Udana were picked in the first round by Barbados Tridents, St Lucia Stars, and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots respectively.
Jamaica Tallawahs retained Andre Russell while Trinbago Knight Riders retained Dwayne Bravo.
Shadab Khan, a key player in Knight Riders’ title triumph in 2017 was picked by Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Pakistan all-rounder is expected to fill in for Rashid Khan, who will be playing in the Euro T20 League this year.
The Knight Riders have retained a strong core of players in Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Colin Munro, and Khary Pierre. Keiron Pollard will also be joining Narine and Pollard in the Knight Riders camp. Mohammed Hasnain and Jimmy Neesham will also be joining up with the Trinbago Knight Riders.
Barbados Tridents will be led by West Indies skipper Jason Holder. They have a strong squad with Wahab Riaz, Asif Ali, Sandeep Lamichhane, Shai Hope, Ashley Nurse, and Imad Wasim alongside Hales.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have picked a lot of T-20 specialists in Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, and Sherfane Rutherford alongside their strong overseas players Shoaib Malik, Shadab Khan and Ben Laughlin.
Jamaica Tallawahs have made Chris Gayle their marquee player and also have a strong pace attack comprising of Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell, and Rovman Powell.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have picked a couple of power hitters in Evin Lewis and Carlos Brathwaite alongside their star pick Isuru Udana.
St Lucia Stars lost the services of Pollard but acquired Malinga, Fawad Ahmed, Darren Sammy, Thisara Perera, Andre Fletcher, John Campbell, and Niroshan Dickwella strengthening their squad.
