Novak Djokovic and Jelena Djokovic announced that they will donate €1 million through the Novak Djokovic Foundation to support hospitals and other medical institutions in their battle against coronavirus in Serbia.
The funds will used for the purchase of ventilators and medical equipment.
“My wife @jelenadjokovic and I have donated 1 million euros via @novakfoundation for the purchase of medical equipment to help fight #COVID19 in Serbia. We are in this together,” Djokovic made the announcement in social media.

Earlier, the defending Australian Ooen and Wimbledon champion expressed concerns over the spread of coronavirus, terming it a ‘challenging time’ and urged people to stay.
A large number of celebrities, including Djokovic fellow Tennis stars, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, pledged to donate financial aid for the fight against Coronavirus.
Nadal and Federer donated €1 Million each for the fight against Coronavirus in their respective homeland.
Star Football players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also donated a €1 Million each for the purchase of medical equipments.
Spain and Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos, who is UNICEF brand ambassdor, and her wife Pilar Rubio donated meidcal equipments to limit the spread of the pandemic, which has alread claimed more than 27,000 lives globally.
Premier League rivals, Manchester United and Manchester City, also pledged to donate £100,000 to hospitals in Greater Manchester.
The novel Coronavirus, which originated in China, has effected nearly 6,00,000 people globally.
