Due to the global Coronavirs outbreak, which has taken the lives of 4,566 people, several sporting events across the globe have been postponed.
Euro 2020 Curtain-Raiser Called Off
A four-team tournament, featuring European Champions Portugal, World Cup runner-ups Croatia, Belgium and Switzerland in Qatar this month has been called off due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
On Wednesday, the Belgian FA said that “received the info from Qatar that due to the current situation worldwide the… tournament will have to be cancelled”.
The Euro 2020 curtain-raiser tournament was scheduled to be played between March 26-30 in Qatar, which has the most number of cases among the Gulf countries.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Qatar took a leap from 238 to 262 on Wednesday, while the global cases stood at 124,101.
LaLiga Suspends Next Two Matchdays
The Spanish Soccer Federation (RFEF) have suspended two LaLiga, Spain’s top-division football tournament, matchdays due to the Coronavirus Outbreak.

Real Madrid Players Under Quarantine
Real Madrid players have been put into quarantine after a member of the club’s basketball team tested positive for the coronavirus.
“Real Madrid C. F. announces that a member of our basketball first team has tested positive for coronavirus,” the club said in a statement.
“The recommendation of remaining in quarantine has been followed with immediate effect, with this measure applied to both the basketball and football first teams, given that the two squads share the facilities at Real Madrid City,” the statement added.
Real Madrid’s Basketball and Football teams were scheduled to play Estrella Roja and Eibar, respectively, but both all the games for the next two weeks have been postponed by the respective associations.
ISL Final To Be Played Behind Closed Doors
Indian Super League (ISL) final between Chennayin FC and ATK, scheduled for March 14 will be played behind closed doors in Goa, due to the Coronavirus Outbreak.
The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in India has risen to 63, with no casualties as of yet.
