Amidst the 21-day nationwide lovkdown, as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of Coronavirus, the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has pledged to donate Rice worth Rs 50 Lakh to people in need.

As India continues to figh with the coronavirus outbreak, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced that Sourav Ganguly will along with Lal Baba Rice will provide rice to people who’ve been put in government dchools for safety and security.

“It is heartening to note that Mr. Sourav Ganguly along with Lal Baba Rice has come forward to provide free rice worth Rs 50 lacs to the needy people who have been put in government schools for safety and security,” CAB said in a statenent.

“Hope this initiative of Mr. Ganguly would encourage other citizens of the state to take up similar initiatives to serve the people of our state,” the statement added.

The CAB Avishek has also pledged to donate Rs 25 Lakh to the government’s relief fund while CAB president Avishek Dalmiya will also donated Rs 5 Lakh for the same.

“In these uncertain times of COVID-19 when all our focus and resources have been on combatting and eradicating this pandemic, the Cricket Association of Bengal has come forward and decided to donate a sum of Rs 25 lakh to the state administration in Corona Aid,” CAB said in a statement.

In West Bengal, 10 people have been affected by the coronavirus, with the confirmed cases in India crossing the 600-mark.
