Real Madrid will be without the services of Eden Hazard for the ‘El Clasico’ against Barcelona on December 18, after suffering a stress fracture in his right ankle.

During the Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain, Hazard was on the receiving end of a clumsy challenge from his Belgium teammate, Thomas Meunier.

Zidane, however, said that it was a minor ailment and Hazard will be hoped for Hazard’s quick recovery.

But the Belgian on Thursday arrived at the player’s dinner on crutches, according to reports in Spain.

Real Madrid, through a statement released earlier today, said that Hazard has suffered an incomplete external microfracture in his right ankle.

“Following tests carried out on our player, Eden Hazard, by Real Madrid’s medical department, the development of the perimalleolar bruising in his right leg has seen him diagnosed with an incomplete external microfracture in the aforementioned area,” the statement read.

“His recovery will continue to be assessed,” it added.

As reports suggest, Hazard wouldn’t be available for selection until the new year.

Furthermore, veteran left-back Marcelo is also a doubt for the Clasico, after he suffered a calf injury, the club confirmed in another statement.

In the meantime, Real Madrid is scheduled to play four games, starting with the visit of Espanyol, 19th, on Saturday.

Los Blancos will then feature in three consecutive away games, visit to Club Brugge in the Champions League, followed by trips to Valencia and Barcelona in La Liga.

Real Madrid, who are currently second in the table behind Barcelona on goal difference, will end the year by welcoming Athletic Bilbao at the Bernabeu on December 23rd.
