Ahead of their Premier League fixture against Chelsea, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has praised his counterpart, Frank Lampard.
Pellegrini said that Frank, who played under Pellegrini at Manchester City, was a top player his whole career and understood the game very well.
“He was a top player his whole career, an intelligent player and he likes football so of course, everyone knew in that moment that he was going to continue his career as a manager,” Pellegrini said at a press event on Saturday.
The former Manchester City manager added that he is very happy for the results he is very happy for Lampard, who won a Premier League title under Manuel Pellegrini.
The Chilean further added that playing at City really helped Lampard improve as a manager.
“To go to Manchester City, to see another way of playing football, that helped him to improve as a manager and I’m very happy for him,” he said.
West Ham is currently on an eight-game winless run while a Chelsea were on an exceptional run until last weekend, lost 2-1 to Lampard’s former employees, Manchester City.
Chelsea and West Ham will lock horns on Saturday in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
