Indian pugilist, Mary C. Kom, with her recent boxing stint, has set a new record in the world history.
Being a sports champion and a mother of not just one but three kids is extremely taxing.
Talking to India Ahead, Mary explained how she has been doing the balancing act as she loves her sport as much as her babies.
Nothing comes easy in our profession, she added.
Due to her back injury Mary had to miss the Asian Games earlier this year. However, it doesn’t stop her from sticking to her motto: train, train and train, and achieving her milestone.
At 35, with several accolades in her kitty, Mary is still unstoppable and is in no mood to retire. She wants to become a role model to the young boxers choosing the profession.
“I am not retiring yet,” Mary said with pride and confidence, and is now aiming to win the speculations2020 Tokyo Olympics.
With an incredible sporting spirit, Mary said, “After retirement, I would like to continue mentoring at my boxing academy. I don’t want to sit quietly and be selfish” she added. The medals and achievements have become an inspiration to “give back” to my nation.
In a rapid fire round with India Ahead, Mary got candid and revealed some interesting facts about her. She said, sleep is dearer to her than food as of now, and whenever she is not inside the boxing ring, she enjoys singing and dancing.
