The match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan is hanging in balance as the Afghans need 73 runs off 102 balls and have 5 wickets in hand.

Winning the toss, the Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib opted to bowl first.

After a brilliant opening stand of 92 runs between Kusal Perera and skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, Sri Lanka could only post a total of 201 runs.

The Lankan Lions were cruising at a score of 144/1 after only 21 overs.

Then, Mohammed Nabi took three wickets in the next over and caused havoc amongst the Lankan camp as they were found struggling at 146/4 after 22 overs.

Nabi dismissed Thirimanne, Kusal Mendis, and former skipper Angelo Matthews inside a single over. Hamid Hassan dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva in the next over for a duck.

Thisara Perera threw away his wicket as he tried to steal a single when there was none while Isuru Udana got bowled to a Dawlat Zadran delivery in an attempt to clear the boundary.

Star of Sr Lanka’s innings, Kusal Perera was dismissed by Rashid Khan for 78 runs off 81 balls after smashing eight beautiful boundaries.

Chasing an adjusted target of 187 runs (due to D/L method), Afghanistan had a bright start to the run chase as the openers helped the score propel to 29 by the end of the fourth over.

After Hazatullah Zazai was dropped by Kusal Mendis, Malinga struck thunder as he dismissed the dangerous Mohammad Shahzad for a meager score of 7 runs.

Rahmat Shah was struggling from the first ball and was dismissed for 2 runs by Isuru Udana.

Zazai was looking in good touch but was dismissed after scoring 30 runs off 25 balls courtesy of a brilliant Thisara Perera catch.

Hashmatullah Shahidi and Mohammed Nabi were dismissed by Nuwan Pradeep and Thisara Perera respectively putting Afghanistan in a tough position.

Skipper Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran have made a 65-run stand that looks devasting for Sri Lanka’s chances for winning the match.
