In a rain-affected 20 overs-a-side game, India ‘A’ defeated South Africa ‘A’ by 36 runs.

Having set a target of 205, Team India bundled out South Africa at 168, to clinch the 5-match ODI series, 4-1.

Having won the toss and decided to bat first, India had a bad start as they lost opener, Prashant Chopra.

However, Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan added 135 for the second wicket before the latter lost his wicket to George Linde. Dhawan played a knock of 51 runs.

Samson played a quick-fire knock of 91 from 48 balls before Geroge Linde dismissed him in the 16th over.

Captain Shreyas Iyer and Shbhman Gill made handy contributions as India ‘A’ crossed the 200-run mark.

The skipper scored 33 while Gill played a run-a-ball inning and made 10 runs.

Having been asked to chase 205, Proteas had a shaky start, as Janneman Malan was dismissed for 16 by Shardul Thakur.

Temba Bavuma came on but he also didn’t last long. Bavuma scored 6 runs before he was dismissed by Ishan Parole.

Reeza Hendricks and Kyle Verryne added 69 runs for the third wicket before the latter was sent back to the pavilion by Washington Sundar in the 11th over.

Hendricks and Klaasen then added 48-runs before Tushar Deshpande removed Klassen to reduce the South Africans to a total of 143/4.

Reeza Hendricks completed his fifty before Rahul Chahar dismissed him for 59.

After that, the Proteas’ tail collapsed and the team bundled out for 169.

India ‘A’ will now take on South Africa ‘A’ in the first unofficial test match on September 9.
