Navdeep Saini starred on his debut as Team India defeated West Indies in the first T20 in Florida on Saturday.
Team India won the toss and skipper Virat Kohli opted to bowl first.
A strong display from the Indian bowlers, started by opening spells from Washington Sunder and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, inflicted damage on the Windies Innings.
However, it was debutant Navdeep Saini who stole the show, bagging 3 wickets on his international debut.
Saini’s first wicket came in the form of Nicholas Pooran, followed by dismissals of Shemron Hetmyer and Kieron Pollard.
Apart from Saini, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets, including the dismissal of opener Ewin Lewis, while Sundar, Jadeja, Ahmed, and Krunal Pandya got a wicket each.
Saini also became the first Indian bowler to bowl a maiden in the final over of an innings.
Disciplined bowling from Team India saw West Indies restrict to just 95/9 after 20 overs.
Kieron Pollard fell a run short of his fifty, as he got dismissed by Saini in the final over.
Chasing a mediocre 96-run target, India crossed the line with four wickets in hand. Although, Team India started miserably.
Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for 1 while youngster Rishabh Pant was out for a first-ball duck.
Rohit Sharma, captain Virat Kohli, and Manish Pandey got starts but threw their wickets away cheaply.
Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar helped India cross the line with 16 balls to spare.
For West Indies, Sheldon Cottrell, Keemo Paul, and Sunil Narine took a couple of wickets each.
With this win, Men in Blue take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
