Kolkata Knight Riders’ speedster Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of IPL 2019 due to a shoulder injury.
Nortje was bought for his base price of Rs. 20 Lakh rupees at the auctions by the KKR franchise. He announced the news of his injury through his twitter handle. He wrote “Unfortunately due to a shoulder injury I’ve had to pull out of the IPL. I wish KKRiders all the best and bring the trophy back home!”

The South African fast bowler came into the limelight with his impressive displays in last year’s Mzanzi Super League. Representing the Cape Town Blitz, he picked up eight wickets at an impressive economy of 6.91.
At the time of the auctions, the 25-year old was injured with an ankle injury that ruled him out of the Super League as well. But, the KKR franchise maintained their trust in the fast bowler recruiting him for the upcoming IPL season.
Recently, Nortje made a comeback for the Sri Lanka series picking up 8 wickets at an impressive average of 18.75 in just four matches.
The injury-crisis for the Kolkata-based side has deepened with Nortje being ruled out as well. Earlier, young fast bowlers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti were ruled out of this season of the Indian Premier League with injuries.
KC Cariappa and Sandeep Warrier have been roped in by the Dinesh Karthik-led side ahead of the season as replacements for the injured duo.
The Kolkata Knight Riders would be looking to replace Nortje and bring in a big-name instead of him as they look to reinforce their pace battery ahead of an important IPL season.
