Half-centuries from Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis helped the Chennai Super Kings stage a 6-wicket win over the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2019 ‘Qualifier 2’.

Winning the toss, the Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni opted to field first.

Prithvi Shaw failed to score another big innings in a big match as he was dismissed by Deepak Chahar for a lowly score of 5 runs off 6 balls.

Shikhar Dhawan scored 18 runs off 14 balls hitting three boundaries before getting out to Harbhajan Singh.

Colin Munro once again failed to play a big knock as he could only score 27 runs off 24 balls smashing four boundaries in his innings.

Rishabh Pant was the star for Delhi Capitals with an innings of 38 runs off 25 balls that consisted of a couple of boundaries and a solitary six.

Trent Boult and Ishant Sharma’s combination scored 16 runs off the last over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja helping the Capitals post 147 on the board.

The Chennai Super Kings openers dominated the match as the two experienced players showed their class in the big match.

Chasing just 148, Faf du Plessis ensured a good start for the Chennai Super Kings with Shane Watson struggling to score runs in the powerplay overs.

A brilliant half-century from the Proteas skipper helped Chennai score 81 runs in the first ten overs. du Plessis scored 50 runs off 39 balls smashing seven boundaries and a solitary maximum before getting out to Trent Boult.

Shane Watson had 7 runs off 14 deliveries at one point in the match and completed his half-century in just 31 balls. The Australian all-rounder ended his innings on the next ball scoring 50 runs off 32 balls hitting three boundaries and four maximums.

Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo helped Chennai reach another final and set-up a mega clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
