After winning his fifth ‘Manager of the month’ award on Friday, Jurgen Klopp became the first manager to reach the milestone in a single Premier League season.
Jurgen Klopp won his fifth award for the month of January as Liverpool remained unbeaten in the league so far.
Klopp pipped Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to win the most number of ‘Manager of the month award, with the former winning four, back in the 2017-18 season.
“BOSS, Jürgen Klopp has been named as the @premierleague‘s Manager of the Month for January – setting a new record for most wins (5) in a single season,” Liverpool took to twitter to congratulate Klopp.
Klopp could’ve won the awards for six months, on the bounce, but Chelsea manager Frank Lampard won the award in the month of October.
In October, Chelsea won all their Premier League games while Liverpool had drawn 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford, the only fixture in which Klopp’s side had dropped points, so far.
The Reds currently holds the top spot in the Premier League with 73 points in the bag, 22 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
Liverpool are currently the winter break before returning to Premier League action, next week, against Norwich City at Anfield.
