Kolkata Knight Riders put 218 runs on board courtesy splendid innings by Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana and Andre Russell.

Chris Lynn opened the innings with the fit-again Sunil Narine as Nitish Rana was demoted down the batting order.

Lynn once again disappointed as he got out for just 10 runs off 10 balls before getting out to Mohammed Shami.

Narine produced a ferocious innings of 24 runs from 9 balls in which he was dropped twice before KL Rahul was finally able to catch one of his shots.

Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana strung together a 110 run partnerhsip in 66 balls at a strike rate of 166.66.

Uthappa remained unbeaten till the end and put up 67 runs on board off 50 balls. He scored 6 boundaries and 2 sixes while anchoring the innings from one end.

Rana’s brilliant innings of 63 runs off 34 balls included 2 boundaries and 7 maximums.

Andre Russell stepped in at the death overs and scored 48 runs off just 17 deliveries. The Caribbean powerhouse scored 3 boundaries and 5 maximums at a strike rate of over 280.

Debutant Varun Chakravarthy was able to pick one wicket as he got Rana out. Mohammed Shami, Andrew Tye and Hardus Viljoen also scalped one wicket each.

Punjab lost both their openers early while chasing a mammoth target of 219 runs.

KL Rahul got out for early for a second consecutive match as he could muster only 1 run off 5 balls before giving away his wicket to Lockie Ferguson.

Chris Gayle scored 20 runs off 13 balls before getting out to fellow countryman Russell.

Last match’s hero Sarfaraz Khan failed to repeat his performance as he got out for just 13 runs off 13 balls.

Mayank Agarwal has steadied the innings but faces an uphill task of chasing 219 runs.
