Kings XI Punjab were restricted to a total of 166 runs courtesy of some excellent death bowling from the Delhi Capitals.

KL Rahul got to a blistering start as he scored 15 runs off 11 balls scoring two boundaries and two maximums. Rahul was back to the pavilion in the second over with his opening partner Sam Curran not even facing a single ball by that time.

Curran went after the young seamer Avesh Khan and smashed him for three boundaries in the third over. Sandeep Lamichhane was hit for a six by Curran before the English all-rounder was caught leg before wicket.

Shikhar Dhawan reacted brilliantly to get a run-out as Mayank Agarwal went back to the pavilion after putting up just 6 runs off 9 balls.

Sarfaraz Khan and David Miller then built a 62-run partnership off just 41 balls which ended with Lamichhane getting Khan’s wicket.

The 21-year old scored 39 runs from 29 balls scoring 6 boundaries in his innings.

Miller soon followed suit after putting up 43 runs off 30 balls. The South African’s innings consisted of 4 boundaries and 2 maximums.

Delhi picked five wickets in the last four overs seeing Punjab lower order collapse against some fiery bowling.

Mandeep Singh remained unbeaten till the end putting 29 runs on the board from 21 balls helping Punjab put up 166 on the board.

Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamichhane picked 2 wickets each while Chris Morris was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets.

Delhi Capitals started the run chase on a bad note as Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin got Prithvi Shaw’s wicket on the first ball. The 19-year old golden boy got out on a golden duck after scoring 99 runs in the last match.

Shikhar Dhawan and Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer have brought stability to the run-chase with some sensible batting from then on.

Live Score: Delhi Capitals 35/1 (Dhawan 17* (15), Iyer 13* (9))
