Spanish Primera Division fixtures have been announced by La Liga earlier today and the first round of games will be played on August 18.

Defending champions FC Barcelona will begin their title defence on road at Athletic Club de Bilbao, while 33-time Champions Real Madrid will be travelling at Ballaidos to face Celta de Vigo.

In other prominent opening day fixtures, 2013/2014 Champions Atletico Madrid will host last seasons surprise package Getafe, while Valencia will entertain Real Sociedad at the Mestalla.

Sevilla FC will be in Catalan capital in what will be a tough game against Espanyol at the RCDE stadium.

Also, La Liga has three new but familiar teams who enjoyed promotion in the last season. CA Osasuna, who won promotion as champions of La Liga 123 will host Eibar, while Granada and Mallorca are on the road at Leganes and Villareal, respectively.

Elsewhere, Real Betis will host Real Valladolid while Levante will travel to the Basque country to face Deportivo Alaves.

Derby day delights

First Derby de la Madrileno (Madrid Derby) of the season will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano on September 29, while the reverse fixture is scheduled at the Bernabeu on April 2.

Seville’s traditional EL Gran Derbi will be played between city rival Real Betis and Sevilla FC. Betis’ Benito Villamarin will host the first Seville derby on November 10, while the reverse fixture will be played on March 15 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Hazard vs Messi in the Clasico

Real Madrid’s galactico signing, Eden Hazard, will be looking make his EL Clasico debut at Barca’s Camp Nou on October 27, while his Clasico home debut at the Bernabeu will be on March 3.


Last season, the Clasico’s weren’t the same, as Real Madrid did not have a game changer, following Cristiano Ronaldo departure. With Hazard’s arrival, Real Madrid will be back to the ruthless best and will be looking to get the title back from current champions FC Barcelona.
