Arturo Vidal came off the bench to score late in the second half as Barca came from a goal down to beat Leganes 2-1 in La Liga here on Saturday.
The defending champions were on the back foot after Youssef En-Nesyri had given Leganes a 12th-minute lead at Butarque.
“Scoring for Barcelona is always a joy for me, even more, if that gives us the 3 points. This was a very difficult ground to play on today,” said Vidal after the final whistle.
Barca were underwhelming in the first half and could’ve conceded another as Oscar Rodriguez flashed his effort just wide of the target.
Suarez had Barca’s best chance in the opening period as his glancing header was tipped past the post by a diving Pichu Cuellar.
After the restart, Pique almost equalised for Barca, as his towering header bounced back off the woodwork.
Barca, however, equalized minutes later as Messi’s curling free-kick inside the penalty box found Suarez, who’s header went past Cuellar.
Both teams had chances to take the lead, Cuellar saving Messi’s effort, before Javier Eraso blazed his header over the bar.
Substitute Arturo Vidal then came to Barca’s rescue, scooping his effort from close range, following a corner.
Barcelona, who host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the Champions League, are currently top of La Liga table.
Ernesto Valverde’s men hold a three-point advantage over rivals Real Madrid, who play Real Sociedad later today.
On Friday, a 10-men Levante defeated RCD Mallorca at the Ciudad de Valencia.
Ruben Rochina scored the 73rd-minute winner after Roger Marti’s first-half strike was cancelled out by Dani Rodriguez.
Levante had a nervy end to the game as Jose Campana was shown a second yellow, four minutes from time.
