Six-time World Boxing Champion Mary Kom will take on Nikhat Zareen in the final round of the Olympic Qualifiers Women’s Boxing Trials here on Saturday.

In the 51 kg category, Mary Kom and Nikhat Zareen outclassed their respective opponents Ritu Grewal and Jyoti in unanimous decisions at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Friday.

The Women’s trial is currently underway and will end on December 28th while the Men’s trials will be held from December 29-30.

Earlier, Nikhat Zareen had demanded a ‘fair chance’ to qualify for next years Toky Olympics. In a letter to the Union Sports Ministry, Zareen had challenged the Boxing Federation of India’s (BFI) decision to accommodate world champion Kom by changing its rule of exempting gold and silver medallists from the World Cup.

Earlier this year, Mary Kom won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia after facing defeat in the quarter-finals against Turkey’s Busenaz Cakiroglu on October 12.
