Senegalese forward Sadio Mane came off the bench to score as Liverpool took an ‘insane’ 25 points lead at the top of the Premier League table after edging Norwich 1-0 here at the Carrow Road on Saturday.
In a battle of bottom vs top, Liverpool dominated the possession but Norwich had their moments as well.
Mane marked his return to action with a bang, having limped off during a 2-1 win over Wolves at the Molineux on January 24.
Norwich defended resolutely and could’ve taken the lead twice, but the Reds were able to get the job done, despite not being at their best, once again.
With this win, Liverpool registered their 17th victory on the bounce since being held by Manchester United in October.
Alexandre Tettey struck the post for Norwich, who remained bottom of the table, seven points behind 17th placed Aston Villa.

In the 78th-minute of the game, Mane controlled Henderson’s ball with his right foot before firing his effort past Krul with his left and into the bottom left corner.
Norwich were so close yet so far from becoming only the second team after Manchester United to hold Liverpool this season.
Liverpool will now shift their focus towards a Champions League round-of-32 tie with Atletico Madrid, as they hope to become the second team to defend the title in the modern era, after Real Madrid.
