US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev will take on Alexander Zverev in the final of ATP Shanghai Masters on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Medvedev continued his brilliant run of form as he edged Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-final here on Saturday.
The Russian Medvedev, who has lifted three titles in a break-through 2019, defeated Tsitspas 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
Medvedev now holds a 5-0 head-to-head record against Tsitsipas, who defeated Novak Djokovic on Friday.
There was nothing to separate as they entered the tie-break after 43 minutes of action-packed Tennis.
However, it was Medvedev who took the first set after he caught Tsitsipas, who dragged a couple of forehands wide.
In the second set, Medvedev led 5-4 but Tsitsipas broke him to tie at 5-5 before the Russsian returned the favour to take a 6-5 lead.
The 23-year-old Russian served for the match as Tsitsipas smashed the ball out of court in rage.
“Making six [finals] in a row, including three Masters 1000’s and one Grand Slam, is something I could never dream of, to be honest,” said Medvedev. “But I want to keep the momentum going and hope I can make it to seven or eight.”
Medvedev will now battle for the Shanghai Masters on Sunday against Alexander Zverev, who outclassed Italy’s Matteo Berrettini also here on Saturday.

Zverev defeated Berrettini, who ousted Dominic Thiem on Friday, 6-3, 6-4.
‘Sascha’ Zverev holds a 4-0 head-to-head record against Medvedev, who will play in his 9th ATP tour final.
With a win over Zverev on Sunday, Medvedev will become the first Russian to win the Shanghai Masters a decade. Nikolay Davydenko won the inaugural edition in 2009.
