Former Indian batsmen Sunil Gavaskar has questioned why Virat Kohli has automatically continued as the captain following World Cup semi-final exit.
Gavaskar has also slammed BCCI selectors panel for their criteria of selection and appealed for some respected cricketers to be a part of the committe.
‘Little Master’ called the selectors panel as ‘Lame Ducks’ and took a clear dig at Virat Kohli by questioning his automatic reappointment after below par performance in the World Cup.
He said if players like Dinesh karthik and Kedar Jadhav are being dropped after disappointing performances why not the captain as he has disappoined even more.
Gavaskar lashed out at BCCI, regarding the powers given to Virat Kohli by the board.
He also revealed that it was incumbment for the selector’s, even for five minutes to discuss whether Virat should be re-appointed or not.
Also, CoA had said ealier that it will not review the performance of the team despite World Cup exit and said that only the manager will be assessed.
“This is probably one of the last selections for this committee as a new one will get appointed soon and hopefully that will have players of stature who will not get bullied and be able to tell the team management that their job is to play with the team chosen by the selectors,” Gavskar wrote.
The present BCCI’s selectors panel is led by MSK Prasad and has a combined experience of 13 games. Prasad played 6 matches in total while Paranjape and Khoda only played for India in the ODIs.
