Vijender Singh defeated American Mike Snider after four rounds to win his 11th straight bout and first in the American Professional Circuit.
“It was excellent getting back in the ring after a long time off. It’s great to be here in the USA and to get the win. It was really exciting. I am really happy for my winning debut in the USA,” Vijender said after his victory.
“It took me about four rounds to get back in the swing of things. I expected it to take two or three rounds, but it took me four. I felt good,” said Vijender. This was his eighth knockout win in all.
Vijender was all over his opponent in the fourth game, although, the 38-year-old American was never in the bout and Vijender was declared the winner after he started a counter-attack in the second minute of the 4th round.
“I am happy that after a long gap Vijender is finally back in good shape and action in the ring. His dedication helped him. We will now look forward to having bigger plans for him,” said Vijender’s coach, Lee Beard.
Singh, since turning Pro in 2015, has now won 8 of his 11 bouts by a Knockout and is undisputed.
Mike Snider said after his defeat that he underestimated his opponent and never expected this outcome. He said, “Vijender is a good boxer and I believe I underestimated his experience and technique. It was his day and he won. I had never thought that I would lose in the early rounds.”
The 34-year-old might play two more bouts this year after he signed a contract with Top Rank Promotions.
