Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib won the toss and elected to Bowl in Southampton after a delayed start.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s 83 and Shakib Al Hasan’s five wickets inspire Bangladesh to 62 runs win over Afghanistan. Shakib became only the second player in WC history to score 50+ runs and bag 5 wickets in the same match. Only Yuvraj Singh had done it before.

Shakib also became the first player to score 400 runs and take 10 wickets in a World Cup.

“It was a terrific team effort,” he says. “Two more important matches coming up against India and Pakistan – we’ll have to play to the best of our abilities,” said Shakib.

Despite a decent bowling display, Afghanistan batsmen were disappointing once again. Samiullah Shenwari’s 49 and Gulbadin Naib weren’t enough for Afghanistan on the day.

Afghanistan is yet to win a game in the World Cup and sit at the bottom of the points table. Bangladesh, on the other hand, has 7 points and have been good in tremendous in the World Cup so far.

This has also increased the pressure on England who are one place and one point above Bangladesh in 4th place. England has tough fixtures against Australia, India and New Zealand, respectively. England will be in action tomorrow at Lord’s against Australia.
