Jadeja was the lone wolf for India and contributed with 77 | Picture: ICC

New Zealand turned the tables around on India after beating them by 18 runs at Old Trafford in Manchester. The match continued from where it stopped on the scheduled day.

Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, despite a terrible start, helped the Kiwis put on a defendable total. However, Williamson and veteran Taylor were criticised for such a low score.

Kudos to New Zealand’s bowling line-up as Matt Henry and Trent Boult dispatched the Indian top order cheaply. India was at a stage 94/6 before Ravindra Jadeja stepped up a smashed a brilliant 77 of 59 deliveries, under pressure. It was his efforts which almost got India all the way through but after his departure, India’s hopes got shattered.

“We wanted to start off well with the ball and create as much pressure as we could. We had to ask a lot of questions – we knew it wasn’t the easiest wicket to bat on. We’ve always got belief. We knew we had to bowl really well.  It’s a pretty special moment and we’re looking forward to Lord’s,” said Matt Henry.

Matt was adjudged Man of the Match, took 3 wickets and returned figures of 10/1/37/3.

New Zealand has now qualified for their second Successive final and will face either England or Australia, who play tomorrow at Edgbaston.
