Pulwama terror attack has resulted in a strong feeling of resentment amongst most Indians. The grudges are strong enough to even counter the love for cricket, so much so that even the ardent fans of the sport want the Board of Control of Cricket Association (BCCI) to boycott Pakistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.
Recently, Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Friday said that he would “hate” Men in Blue to give away two points in Pakistan in the World Cup.
“India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament,” said Tendulkar in a statement.
“Having said that, for me India always comes first, so whatever my country decides, I will back that decision with all my heart,” the legendary batsman added.
Sachin Tendulkar endorsed the view of Sunil Gavaskar who also expressed that India should beat Pakistan than forfeiting the June 16 World Cup clash.
“India has so far beaten Pakistan every time in a World Cup, so we are actually conceding two points when by beating Pakistan, we could make sure that they don’t advance in the competition,” he had said,” Gavaskar said.
Meanwhile, many cricketers such as Harbhajan Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal have called for a complete cricketing boycott of Pakistan.
This statement from Sachin Tendulkar came after the Committee of Administrators (CoA) left the decision to the government on whether to boycott Pakistan in the World Cup or not. CoA member Vinod Rai also said that the IPL opening ceremony is cancelled and the fund allocated for the same will be given to the families of the CRPF martyrs who lost their lives in Pulwama terror attack.
