Budget smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi launched the Redmi 7 device and its upgraded version, the Redmi Note 7 Pro today. The Pro version of the smartphone is touted to pack higher specifications than the Redmi 7 model. The basic model may feature a 6.26-inch screen and the Android Pie version of Google’s mobile operating system.
Xiaomi is slated to launch the new devices at 11:30 AM India time in mainland China. Fans and customers of the Xiaomi brand can watch a live stream of the event on the company’s website. The technology press indicates that the Redmi 7 will feature a Snapdragon 632 processor and a dual camera setup with 12 megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors. The Redmi 7 will be geared with 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB RAM and similar inbuilt storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, respectively.
The device may sport colours such as Black, Blue, Green, Grey, Pink, Purple, Red, and White. A raft of sensors onboard the Redmi 7 will include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, and a proximity sensor. Market observers note the device may be priced at a range of INR 7,200 to INR 8,300 in India. The aggressive pricing might help Xiaomi to expand its market share among Indian buyers of smartphone devices.
Xiaomi has not confirmed any launch dates for the device in India at the time of going to press. However, the company may eventually offer the Redmi 7 for sale in India in keeping with earlier device launches.
