Marathon Mumbai dies old man cardiac arrest

The 17th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon witnessed a tragic death of 64-year-old due to cardiac arrest while running at the marathon.

Gajanan Maljalkar, a 64-year-old participant, died of cardiac arrest while running the Tata Mumbai Marathon in the morning. He was declared brought dead, according to the hospital.

Seven others have also suffered from cardiac arrest and have been taken to the hospital.

The marathon boasts of over 55,000 people taking part in the 17th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon

Among many runners, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray also arrived at the venue to flag off the half marathon along with Chief Minister and his uncle, Uddhav Thackeray.

Many other celebrities like Milind Soman, Tiger Shroff, Rahul Bose, and even Gulzar were present for the marathon.

The full marathon was flagged off around 5:15 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 5:15 am, while half began from Worli dairy. Both races run past Sealink, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Haji Ali, Peddar Road, Babulnath temple, Chowpatty and the race ends at Azad Maidan.

The 10k run began at 6:20 am and Marathon Elite Race started at 7:20 am from CSMT. They will end at Azad Maidan and CSMT, respectively.
