Suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, who was missing after he was linked to the death of Ankit Sharma, an IB officer in the Northeast Delhi violence, is facing arrest as a Delhi court rejected his plea to surrender.
The ex-AAP councillor, accused of murder and arson, had appeared at a Delhi court of Judge Vishal Ahuja earlier today. The court refused to accept his request to surrender, saying it was not in their jurisdiction.
Following this, he was taken away by the Delhi Police.
The family of Ankit Sharma, who was found dead in a drain near his home in northeast Delhi’s riot-hit Chand Bagh area, had accused Tahir Hussain of being behind the killing.
In February, the Aam Aadmi Party had suspended councillor Tahir from the party.
Further, on the complaint of Ankit’s father, the police had registered an FIR against Tahi, who had rejected the charge.
Tahir Hussain said it was sad that Ankit Sharma lost his life during Delhi Violence. The AAP councillor, however, hoped that an impartial investigation into the case will bring forth the truth.
