In a viral video on social media platforms, a group of people were seen chanting inflammatory slogans at Rajiv Chowk metro station on Saturday.
Six youngsters have been detained who were seen raising slogans like, “desh ke gaddaron ko goli maaro”, which translates to, “shoot these traitors who betray our country”, in the viral video.
The Delhi Metro Corporation said that the security personnel present at the station took immediate action and “handed them over to the Delhi Metro Rail Police for further necessary action”.
Any kind of sloganeering at Delhi metro stations is prohibited. Further, the slogans were chanted as Delhi is slowly recovering from more than 72-hours of violence in northeast districts of the capital which claimed 42 lives.
Major riots broke in the northeast districts of Delhi on the night of January 24 after a tyre market at Gokulpuri was set ablaze. The other areas—Chand Bagh, Maujpur, Bhajanpur, Khajuri Khas also witnessed violence. The situation is under control but the city is still under strict vigilance.
