On the occasion of the 71st Republic day, India is witnessing celebrations nationwide. The official parade is expected to begin shortly at Rajpath.

The celebration concludes after exceptional salutations from Indian forces, cultural groups, and students.

President Ram Nath Kovind unfurls tricolor at Rajpath, Republic Day parade begins.

This year’s Republic Day is led by Lieutenant General Asit Mistry, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delhi area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the National war Memorial earlier. The ceremony has begun, where the Chief Guest, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro completed the two-minute silence by concluding with salutations.

The security in the national capital has been heightened.

The Chief Guest for the Republic Day, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro was received by President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also tweeted his greetings and wishes to the entire nation on this auspicious day. He wrote, “Wishing everyone a happy #RepublicDay. सभीदेशवासियों को गणतंत्र दिवसकी बहुत-बहुत बधाई। जय हिंद!”

The Republic Day of the country is an auspicious and important day in the history of Indian freedom and struggle. The occasion marks the day when India’s Constitution came into effect, and the country became a republic.

Unlike every year, the proceedings will not begin from India Gate, but from the National War Memorial.

Amid protests, Shaheen Bagh also unfurled tricolor early in the morning. Indian Army is celebrating the Republic Day by hoisting the national flag at the LOC.

On Saturday evening, President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation. He spoke about the significance of the Constitution. He further emphasized on the responsibilities of the citizens towards the Constitution.
