Ahead of their Premier League game against Everton, Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has said that a derby is always big and passionate.
Liverpool, who are top of the table, hosts Everton in the 234th Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
“It’s a brilliant game to be involved in. It’s a derby, a big derby, so it’s very passionate, very emotional,” Jordan Henderson was quoted as saying by LiverpoolFC.com
Henderson, who has featured in thirteen Merseyside derbies, added that it’s an equally important game for both the teams.
“It’s a huge game for both teams and at the same time, we look forward to it and you want to be involved and ready to give everything,” he added.
Jordan, however, understands the need to approach it like any other fixture.
The Reds, however, will be without the likes of first-choice goal-keeper Alisson, who is suspended.
Alisson, who received the first-ever Yachine Trophy last night, received a straight red card during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Liverpool will have to rely on veteran Spanish shot-stopper Adrian, who according to Henderson is an equally great player.
“Adri has done brilliantly when he’s come in during the season,” Henderson further added.
Also, Liverpool will host Everton in another derby in less than a month’s time in the FA Cup third-round tie.
