A popular television presenter and a youtube star Emily Hartridge met with an accident in South London. She dies on Friday after her e-scooter collided with lorry at a roundabout in Battersea, South-west London.
In a saddening message to her followers, her well-wishers posted the news of her demise on her instagram which read “Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over instagram, but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once.”
“Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten. She has touched many lives it’s hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person,” said the post.
The 35 year old Emily Hartridge was one of the earliest social media stars, who rose to fame seven years ago for her “Ten Reasons Why…” video series that took a comic view at the modern lifestyle.
After gaining huge popularity on the social media, Emily Hartridge began hosting television shows like 40D’s Oh Sh*t I’m 30 and interviewed many popular actors.
The Police are investigating the accident at the Queen’s circus roundabout which was reportedly redesigned to separate cyclists from other traffic. Users have been complaining that it is very confusing to the commuters. A cyclist died in the same area last year after being hit by a lorry.
Moreover, riding the electric scooters is not yet legal in the United Kingdom as the government has not recognized them to be roadworthy vehicles. Yet millions are using them to commute and the number of e-scooters sold is only rising in the island country.
Heartfelt condolences pour in from fans of Emily Hartridge and her colleagues from across the world.
